Message from the Principal
~ Mr Morne Marx
Spring is fast approaching and with that the mid-afternoon and early morning rain; I would like to encourage our parents to ensure that their kids bring an umbrella to school. We would also like to encourage our parents to ensure that our learners are at school everyday as we are constantly busy with assessments.
Bryanston Primary will host their annual golf day on Friday 3 September. If you would like to get involved in anyway, for e.g., Sponsoring prizes, sponsoring a hole, or taking a fourball, please contact Ms Soden at firstname.lastname@example.org
As we are progressing with our Grade R revamping, I would like any parent that is in the gardening or landscaping industry to contact Ms Pepperell at email@example.com
As parents you would have seen a lot in the media about the scrapping of the October holiday. Please wait for official communication from the school in this regard as nothing has been gazetted yet. The school will inform you as soon as we have clarity on the matter. Unfortunately, no official communication was sent this week.
A sincere gratitude to all our parents that are keeping up to date with school fees. I would like to encourage parents to honour their financial commitments as the running costs of the school is still ongoing. Please communicate with us if you are experiencing financial difficulties regarding school fees.
It is with much excitement that I can announce that Bryanston Primary School will start its own Grade R in January 2022.
Applications for Grade R are open. Please contact Mrs van Eeden at firstname.lastname@example.org for any further information.

Assessment Week Timetable – Senior Phase
Please note that the assessment week timetable has been published on this site, on the Academic Timetable page.
As of this week, we have 1 Educator who has tested positive for COVID-19. The educator is currently in isolation. We wish our staff member a speedy recovery.
Spring Day Civvies – Friday 3 September
Spring Day is fast approaching. Learners who have received 10 credits for Term 3, may dress up in appropriate Spring Day civvies (no short shorts or strappy tops). If learners choose not to wear civvies, they must ensure that they come to school in the correct school uniform. The cost of Spring Day will be R10.00, which is payable to your register teacher via D6 or cash.
The money will go towards restoring our gardens after the winter, and preparing for a colourful spring garden. Learners may dress in their Spring Day civvies on Friday, 3 September 2021.
If learners are not dressed appropriately, parents will be phoned to collect learners in order to go home to change.
This week a selection of Grade 7s participated in two more Eisteddfods: The GDEs Department of Arts and Culture, Segarona Festival and the Perservaria Eisteddfod. We wish the participants well.
They have entered Video/Virtual entries for Public Speaking, Poetry and Group work with musical instruments. We are sure that they will receive excellent results and make us all proud. Everyone else has started working hard towards the October Eisteddfod, conducted by the National Eisteddfod of South Africa. Good luck to all the participants.
Please ensure that the following items are in the learner’s shoulder bags daily:
- An extra mask in a sealed plastic bag in case of an emergency
A plastic bag to throw rubbish into (tissues, pencil sharpenings, paper that has been cut out etc.)
A minimum of 500ml of water for drinking
Adequate amount of lunch
Personal hand sanitiser (alcohol based)
Sanitising wipes (alcohol based) to clean off their own working area
No latex gloves may be worn
There are still many parents who are entering the NO RIGHT TURN area on Mount Street. Please adhere to all road signals to assist with the flow of traffic. Please obey all instructions given by our security guards.
JMPD have informed BPS that they will be doing spot visits to the school to monitor and assist with regulating traffic.
JMPD have also suggested that parents drive up Mount Street (if coming from Grosvenor), and turn into Cross Road (towards the gym) and then join onto Main Road to flow into William Nicol, if you need to get back onto William Nicol Drive.
There is a NO RIGHT TURN sign on Mount Street, on the island (coming from Grosvenor) that indicates that no cars coming from Grosvenor are allowed to turn right into the parking area. Please adhere to all road signs in order to assist with traffic congestion.
We ask that parents follow this procedure for lightning and heavy rain. Please use the contact numbers for WHATSAPP ONLY if parents or transport companies are at the gate and they need learners to be sent to their respective dismissal points only when there is lightning or heavy rain.
No incoming phone calls will be allowed on these phones. This phone will not be used for any other purpose other than it’s intended use. It is only used for WHATSAPP messages during inclement weather.
WHATSAPP message should only have Name, Surname and Grade of the learner who needs to be sent to the gate (e.g. Joe Soap Grade 4A to be sent to the gate).
Please WHATSAPP the Grade Heads in your respective Grades as follows, only during inclement weather:
- Grade 1: 076 570 5824
Grades 2 & 3: 079 790 4653
Grade 4 & 5: 079 169 2271
